Asheville’s Most Romantic Elopement Destinations

You’re getting hitched. Tying the knot. Riding off into the sunset. Whatever you call it, you’re getting married! If you want your ceremony to be a small gathering of your closest friends and family, suddenly your options open up into a world of amazing possibilities. You can host an intimate wedding at a local restaurant, run off into the woods, or find a venue as unique as you are. Here are just a few of the most romantic, jaw-droppingly beautiful, and extraordinary elopement destinations around Asheville, North Carolina.

At a Waterfall:

Can you picture a better backdrop? Saying ‘I Do’ with the sounds of trickling waters behind you and with green plants all around you, you won’t have to do any decorating. There are dozens of waterfalls all around Asheville ranging from jaw dropping to serene. Looking Glass Falls is one of the most beautiful, but also the most popular. On a hot summer day, the pool at the bottom may be crowded but as temperatures drop around sunset most people clear out, leaving you with a stunning ceremony right at golden hour. For the outdoorsy couple looking to trek a little off the beaten path, Catawba Falls is another great option as the waterfall is just over a mile from the trailhead and leads you through fort ruins, dense forests, and a metal bridge – perfect for your photo session.

Craggy Pinnacle:

Just Northeast of Asheville along the Blue Ridge Parkway lies the Craggy Pinnacle, a dome with stunning panoramic views of the blue ridge mountains. A short but rewarding 0.7-mile walk leads you to the top where slabs of rocks overlook the valleys. This is the perfect spot for an outdoorsy couple looking for a non-traditional and intimate ceremony. Host your ceremony with the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains and start your marriage off on top of the world.

Host your ceremony in the Heritage Garden at the North Carolina Arboretum. Their elopement package provides a spectacular setting in the heart of the arboretum for you and up to 10 guests to celebrate your marriage. Your guests receive complimentary parking, a rain plan backup venue in the pavilion, a bridal suite, and chairs. If your ceremony suddenly grows to include more people, the arboretum has several different venues that you can use, from lawn space to courtyard plazas, to the outdoor amphitheater.

In the heart of downtown lies an award-winning farm-to-table restaurant that has a private dining room. Rhubarb is often the spot for rehearsal dinners and small receptions, but if you want to elope in the middle of winter and want a rustic, intimate space there is nowhere better. Large windows overlooking downtown offer the perfect backdrop for your altar and you can jump right into celebrating with your friends and family with a delicious dinner.

Bring your own altar to set up with a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains or surround yourself with color in their blooming flower fields.
