Performing Arts in Asheville

There are many reasons to come to an Asheville Area Bed and Breakfast, not least is to enjoy all that the performing arts scene has to offer. The Diana Wortham Theatre  is Asheville’s splendid 500 seat theatre at the hub of Pack Square.Tickets are available online or at the box office if you’re in town early. This venue offers live music, theatre and dance from award-winning performers of both regional and national reputation. Coming in September are a number of noteworthy perfomances including Grammy-winning Kathy Mattea and an uncommon historical and theatrical experience entitled Palenque Rojo. The U.S. premiere of Palenque Rojo is brought to us by Asheville Sister Cities from a theatre company based in San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, Mexico. It features two Maya dynasties at war with each other in 711 B.C. Elaborate costuming, live performance of pre-Hispanic musical instruments, rituals and dance promises to transport you for the evening. You will be in the heart of downtown near restaurants, cafes and galleries if you wish to enjoy a stroll before or after the show. When you’re ready to settle in for the night, return to your home away from home and the comforts of mountain hospitality.
