The “Inn-Sider’s” Shopping Pass!
This is the second of a three part series on the wonderful holiday shopping opportunities available to our guests with the “Inn-Sider’s” Shopping Pass. Our friends in the Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association have joined together in creating a personalized shopping package for you with all of our favorite stores! In part 1 we covered Art Galleries, Clothing, Skin Care, Chocolate and more. You can read about that here: Holiday Shopping In Asheville. On to part 2!
10. Gray Line Historic Trolley Tours of Asheville
Our package has shops in all corners of Asheville: Downtown Asheville, Biltmore Village, Grove Park and beyond. In addition you will learn a lot of interesting facts about Asheville and see some very interesting buildings. (When walking or touring Asheville, it is always important to look up. Some of our best art is on our buildings!) At ourAsheville Bed and Breakfasts we always recommend the Gray Line Trolley to guests who want to see more of our town. To take advantage of this offer, you will need go to the Visitor’s Center on Montford Avenue and buy your ticket there. Trolleys generally leave every half-hour and while you wait you may want to explore the Gift Shop in the Visitor’s Center (no discount there, sorry!). 5% Off Adult Ticket (must be purchased at the Visitor’s Center)
11. Grovewood Gallery
Grovewood Gallery is a family owned and operated fine crafts destination that showcases traditional and contemporary crafts, all handmade by American artisans. They feature jewelry, pottery, glass, fiber art, ironwork, and outdoor sculpture, as well as an extensive collection of studio furniture and fine wood art. Grovewood Gallery is located right next to the Grove Park Inn so you can make a morning of it by viewing the Gingerbread houses at the Inn, then shopping at the Grovewood Gallery, followed by lunch at the Grovewood Cafe and then finishing with a visit to the Estes-Winn Antique Car Museum! 10% off one item or all jewelry and pottery

12. Just Ducky Originals
Shopping for children is one of my favorite things to do over the holidays and Just Ducky Originals makes it a real pleasure with their line of original children’s clothing. Indulge yourself and buy a beautiful outfit for your child (or grandchild) for their holidays! 10% off one full priced item. Cannot be combined with other offers.
13. Malaprop’s Bookstore-Cafe
Booklovers know that a visit to Malaprop’s Bookstore-Cafe is more than a stop in a bookstore. It is an event in its own right. Authors are frequent visitors to the shop and can be found in the cafe talking about their craft to dedicated fans. And while you may be able find some of the “top ten best sellers” which crowd the shelves of better-known chain bookstores, here you will also find books which have been lovingly selected by the owners and employees of the store (Any of whom will be happy to talk to you about books at length!). There is a also a wide selection of books about Asheville and/or written by Western North Carolina authors. One of which, Farmer and Chef Asheville, includes a section of recipes from our Asheville Bed & Breakfast Inns. 10% off purchases of $50 or more
Farmer and Chef Asheville contains recipes from our B&B and others
14. Mangum Pottery
The town of Weaverville is just a short (and scenic) drive from Asheville. It’s worth a trip just to stroll the streets and explore some of the shops and galleries there. Among these is Mangum Pottery. Here Rob and Beth Mangum create pottery of all kinds from simply decorative to decorative and useful. They moved to the town in 1997 and were part of the resurgence which artists like the Mangums brought to Western North Carolina. At their shop you will find everything from complete dinner services to individual pieces, clocks to fountains and even instruments made of pottery. 10% off purchases in-store
15. Metro Wines
Metro Wines is a different kind of wine shop set apart by their collection of wines by women vintners. One of their favorites is Gaetana Jacono Gola, a sixth generation winemaker at Valle dell’Acate in Sicily. Devoting herself to production of world class Sicilian wines, Gola has earned the respect of the international wine community. While all her wines are stunning, the one that sets her apart is her Frappato. Indigenous to Sicily, this varietal, Frappato, presents hints of red berries, blueberries and blackberries with just a hint of violet. Chosen as a best value by Eric Asimov, wine critic for the New York Times, Frappato is a wine experience that you should not miss! 10% off wine purchase.

16. Mountain Made
Mountain Made is one of our go-to shops in Asheville for local art and craft work. Located in the Grove Arcade, the shop features the work of over 150 Western North Carolina artists. Here you will find stunning (and affordable) jewelry, paper goods, wood carvings, utensils and unique pieces of pottery, graceful in form and function. A personal favorite of mine are the hand-blown wine goblets by Jason Probstein. Made out of pyrex, the glasses are deceptively light in your hand with swirls of color shimmering inside. From November 19-December 20 Jason will be performing his magic with live glass-blowing demonstrations daily from 11 AM. 15% Discount

17. New Morning Gallery
New Morning Gallery is a sister gallery to Bellagio Art-to-Wear carrying the theme of “Art for Living” into home furnishings as well as ceramics, glass, jewelry and art for your garden. While New Morning Gallery features functional and decorative art by American artists from all over the United States, they also have a dedicated gallery for North Carolina artists. 12,399 sq ft of gallery space is filled with everything from mugs to bedroom sets and beyond. Best of all is their selection of Christmas Ornaments. Here you will find something unique for your holiday decor! 15% off on all Christmas Ornaments
18. Origami Ink
This is going to sound weird but is there anything more romantic than a stationery store? Beautiful paper, cards, pens and desk accessories recall a time before computers when writing was an art. One can imagine the poems and sonnets being created. Origami Ink “honors the art of “handmade” and “unique”, and will take you back to a time when artists hand created the finer luxuries and were revered for their fine craftsmanship.” Just walking through the store is a pleasure. You will find yourself tempted by desktop “luxuries” of all sorts! 10% off one item.
19. Purl’s Yarn Emporium
One thing we love about this store: they have a mission statement! It takes a special kind of shop owner to have a mission. Another thing we love about Purl’s Yarn Emporium: Their mission statement itself.
“Every knitter knows that you can’t make very much after only a couple of stitches: you need a whole needle full. Purl’s is a needle full of stitches, a place for people to get knit together—to gather and swap yarns, patterns, and projects, to get and give advice and ideas. Purl’s is proud to offer yarns that are beautiful, soft, and interesting, from around the world or just around the mountain—yarns with stories. If you’ve been knit together, dropped, frogged, or reworked (like all the rest of us)—come join us at Purl’s Yarn Emporium, and you’ll leave in stitches.”
Purl’s is a friendly home-away-from-home store. Their yarns have stories: local farmers, indie dyers, fair trade products, and cool yarns from the USA and around the world. Whether you’re making something for your grand-kids, your roller-derby team, or your favorite Time Lord, Purl’s welcomes you!
