Asheville, NC and Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association Inns are nestled amid the scenic Appalachian mountains, and with all the glorious weather we’ve been having, it seems fitting to devote this post to hiking on the Appalachian Trail. This public footpath is part of the National Park System and spans this mountain chain from Georgia to Maine at approximately 2,184 miles long. The trail passes through North Carolina just north of Asheville, and there are several day hikes nearby. Max Patch is one of our favorites because of the panoramic views. This mountain was cleared for pasture over a century ago and is still maintained as a grassy bald. It’s perfect for seeing wildflowers, flying a kite, having a picnic, and enjoying views of mountains in every direction.
Driving back to your Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association Inn could take you through Hot Springs, NC where you might stop for a soak at the Hot Springs Resort & Spa. The outdoor tubs are set along the rivers running through the town and offer a refreshing opportunity to relax after your hike. Return to your inn for a restful night’s sleep and gourmet breakfast in the morning.
