North Carolina hospitality at an Asheville Bed and Breakfast Association Inn is likely to feature at least one delectable dish made with local apples at this time of year. Western North Carolina produces the majority of the state’s apples, and local orchards attract visitors from all over the region for apple picking, hayrides, and cider doughnuts. A new and growing attraction is CiderFest, sponsored by the WNC Green Building Council. The festival will feature hard ciders from regional producers, local cheeses, and baked goods. There will also be non-alcoholic cider and local apples to sample and pumpkin painting for the kids.
CiderFest will be held Sunday, November 2nd from 1-5 pm at the WNC Farmer’s Market conveniently located near downtown Asheville. The Jon Stickley trio will keep the festival rocking with their eclectic sound, and you’ll be glad you went. Don’t forget to ask your innkeepers where to pick up some cider to take home.
