Staying at an Asheville area Bed & Breakfast is a sure sign of fine taste in overnight accommodations. For a fun afternoon during your visit, be sure to explore a different sense of taste with a celebration of the food that makes everything taste better.
The food is, of course, bacon, whose myriad uses will be on display at the inaugural BaconFest Asheville at Highland Brewing’s outdoor meadow on Saturday, August 31. From 1-4 p.m., chefs from some of Asheville’s best restaurants will showcase their unique pork creations, savory and sweet, for you to sample.
In addition to bacon ice cream, maple bacon doughnuts, and a range of BBQ concoctions, Highland is creating a bacon-infused batch of their Black Mocha Stout exclusively for the occasion. Local musicians will also be on hand with tunes and attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite bacon creations, including “Most Outrageous Use of Bacon/Pork.”
Tickets go on sale July 29 at $10 per adult, but those who text BACON13 to 77000 will receive a link to half price tickets. Proceeds benefit Blue Ridge Food Ventures, a nonprofit food business incubator who has helped shepherd new culinary entrepreneurs into the regional industry. Highland Brewing is located at 12 Old Charlotte Highway in East Asheville.
