The Inns of the Asheville Bed and Breakfast Association (ABBA) are again holding a spring tour of Inns. This year’s 2-day event will be held June 9th and 10th and will feature 15 of our historic properties. Eight Inns will be on tour on Saturday and the other seven on Sunday. Again each Inn is partnering with an independent restaurant, providing a “Taste of Asheville” in addition to providing a glimpse into our historic residences.
Last year the tour was held in April and benefitted Manna Food Bank. This year the tour will be in June , when many of our gardens will be in full summer bloom. Our beneficiary this year is the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP). We are excited to support this organization that is a national leader in the local food movement. ASAP is a strong supporter of the farm to table concept and all of our restaurant partners this year follow this philosophy. ASAP summarizes their commitment on their website by stating they “help communities preserve their agricultural heritage, increase access to fresh, healthy food, and strengthen family farmers.”
The tour last year hosted almost 200 visitors, many of whom were local residents eager to visit our historic homes for the first time. Our Innkeepers were delighted to interact with our tour guests and talk about the history of our properties. We hope to see many more faces this year as we share culinary treats from our restaurant partners. Expect surprises this year as some inns may feature local musicians and artists. Visit the ABBA website, Tour of Inns where the Inns are listed with their restaurant partners. Tickets can be purchased online at this site.
