Many guests who stay at an Asheville Bed & Breakfast Association Inn come to enjoy the art scene. This month we’re featuring two events. First, we are excited to spread the news that two Grammy Award-winning musical acts are performing at the brand new UNC Asheville Arts Fest, April 10-13. The Steep Canyon Rangers and David Holt headline the festival, which has an array of events and exhibitions including an exhibit of Holt’s photographs, a staging of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by TheaterUNCA, interactive sculpture, and literature events including an appearance from our state’s poet laureate, Joseph Bathanti. Tickets are on sale now, and you can find the full schedule at http://arts.unca.edu/ArtsFestSchedule and get more information and purchase your tickets online at http://arts.unca.edu/TicketedEvents or call Katie Cornell at 828.251.6808.
Second, we’re happy to welcome back pleasant spring evenings along with the return of First Friday Art Walks. More than twenty galleries in the Downtown Asheville Art District are open from 5-8 pm on the first Friday of the month starting April 4th and continuing through December. Asheville’s art scene is consistently one of the top reasons for visiting our city, and it’s a well-deserved reputation. There’s glass, textiles, jewelry, metalwork, photography, pottery, painting and more to stir your senses. Eat at one of Asheville’s many excellent restaurants to complete your evening. Your innkeeper will gladly provide you with a Downtown Gallery Guide or direct you to one of the participating galleries to pick one up. You can also read more about the gallery walks here.
We look forward to hosting you during the beautiful month of April for arts events or any of the other multitude of reasons you are drawn to our beautiful region.
